Deborah Kado, MD MS is a board-certified internist and geriatrician, with clinical and research expertise in osteoporosis. She is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego and leads the the Bone Health Program through the UCSD Health System’s Division of Endocrinology. In addition to seeing patients in clinic, she teaches in the medical school, residency and fellowship programs and serves as research mentor to residents, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Her primary research focus has been in the study of spinal changes with aging and she has served as principal investigator on multiple National Institutes of Health funded R01 grants, including the Osteoporotic Fractures in Men (MrOS) Study. Dr. Kado earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, a master’s of science degree in epidemiology from UCLA School of Public Health, completed her residency training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, clinical geriatric fellowship training at UCLA, and research fellowship training at UCSF.
